Mt Toubkal 4167m is North Africa’s highest mountain and lies nestled in Morocco’s High Atlas mountains. Beautiful trekking, mountain huts and sunrise from the summit make for an unforgettable mountain experience.

A short drive from Marakesh, Imlil lies at the foot of the Atlas mountains. From here the picturesque trail leads through berber villages into the upper Toubkal valley and onto our mountain refuge. To acclimatise we take in the neighbouring peaks Timzguida 4089m & Ras Ouanoukrim 4083m, before an early start the next day allows us to reach the highest point in Morocco for sunrise.

Experience required

Summer – Some hill walking/trekking experience would be beneficial, however a good level of fitness and an appetite for adventure is whats really required!

Winter – Whilst some experience with crampons and ice axe would be beneficial its is not essential as we run a practice session in country.

Why not join one of our Scottish Winter Courses and learn the winter skills needed for a successful winter ascent of Toubkal.

From Jon

I first organised a trip to Mt Toubkal in 2008 and all members reached the summit safely. In 2015 I returned again with an incredible team and couldn’t have had more fun – and again everybody summited! I love Morocco for its culture, friendly people and spectacular mountains – I can’t wait to head back again soon.
